I Might Ship It…

I think I Ship It is one of my favourite short films. Granted I don’t watch many short films, mostly just ones on youtube, but I Ship It is definitely my favourite. It’s cute, light, and fun, and has actors that I’m a fan of in it. Mary-Kate Wiles (Zoe) was Lydia in The Lizzie Bennet Diaries (a modern reimagining of Pride and Prejudice) and was in Kissing in the Rain, Sean Persaud (Charley) was also in Kissing in the Rain as well as in Socially Awkward Edgar Allen Poe: A Telltale Vlog. Joey Ritcher (Peter) is also in most Starkid productions (such as the Very Potter Musicals), and I hadn’t seen Jenna Johnson (Macy) in anything before but she seems cool. Well other than the fact that she plays a bit of a dislikable character… 😉

I’m told I Ship It has a very Scott Pilgrim vs the World vibe to it (having never seen the movie I can’t vouch for that myself) but its fun and chill yet fast paced and I like it and want you to be able to like it too so HERE watch Yulin Kuang’s beautiful creation, I Ship It:

And while you’re at it check out the rest of Yulin’s youtube channel because she’s a really talented director and her videos are great =D

Also for clarification on the “ship it” term,

ship:

Short for romantic relationship, popularized in fanfiction circles; To endorse a romantic relationship.
ie: I see a ‘ship developing between Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley; I ship Ron/Hermione

Worthwhile Investments

When it comes to nice books, I can be a big spender. I’m currently trying to build up my own personal library right now because about two years ago I realized one day relatively soon I would be moving out and all those great books belonging to my parents would not be able to come with me. Since then everywhere I go I go to a bookstore (referable used, the books are older and have more character, and they smell good) and I look for all my favourite books. I’ve got my Austens, my Dickens, and today, I added a brand-new, special edition copy of the 44 short stories and 4 novels of “The Complete Sherlock Holmes” by Arthur Conan Doyle.

I’ve read about 20 of the short stories from my dad’s book of “The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes” and I really enjoyed them, they made me appreciate the show “Sherlock” more because I realized how well they’re really doing at sticking to the originals!

Today I was faced with a Sherlock choice, there was a complete stories for $8 but it had a kinda boring dust-jacket and an ugly cover. Then there was the copy I got which was $20 but is super pretty…! Soooooo naturally, I bought the more expensive version!

I figure, it’s an investment. My children will read this copy of Sherlock Holmes, my grandchildren may read it one day! I want a nice copy for them to use!

I like to think that it’s a classic and elegant edition of the book. Sure it’s about 2 or 3 inches thick but it has an attached ribbon bookmark and its PURDY!!!!

So ya. Now I have a book to read on the way home and to add to my library! Gotta love the classics!

May not be able to post tomorrow, will be at a new hotel and may not have internet, but I’ll for sure be able to post on Monday so talk to you then!
